City agree record fee with Nottingham Forest for Elliot Anderson

England international to complete move after World Cup
City have agreed a club record fee of £116m for Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson, it was confirmed on Thursday.
The 23-year-old England international was the Blues' primary summer transfer target, and Director of Football Hugo Viana will be relieved to finally get his man after lengthy negotiations with Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis.
Anderson joined Forest in 2024 from his hometown club Newcastle United, and broke into the English national team in 2025. He has been an ever present in the World Cup campaign so far.
A statement on the club website read:
"Manchester City and Nottingham Forest have reached an agreement for the transfer of Elliot Anderson.
Anderson, 23, is currently competing at the FIFA World Cup with England and has completed a medical in Kansas. The formalities of the move will be finalised upon his return to England.
In the meantime, everyone at Manchester City wishes Elliot and the England squad the very best of luck in their World Cup campaign and we look forward to welcoming him to Manchester in due course.?"
