Erling Haaland will miss the trip to Brighton through injury, but John Stones and Phil Foden are both available for selection.

City will almost certainly have to win at The Amex, given the recent results of Arsenal and Liverpool, but manager Pep Guardiola is expecting a difficult game on the south coast.

“Tomorrow is one of the toughest games of the season,”  he said at Wednesday's press conference.

“Brighton away if you put in my calendar is always one of the toughest ones for the way they play.

“My admiration for Roberto de Zerbi is growing ever season. Facing his side is harder.

“They have had a lot of problems. Important players were sold. They lost Colwill, Mac Allister, Caicedo… all very important players and they have had a lot of injuries.

“They played in more competitions [but] the way they play always is there.

“What he has done is an incredible, incredible job in Brighton.”

City drew their last game at The Amex 1-1, with Phil Foden netting for the Blues. Overall City have won 20 of the 31 games played against the Seagulls, with 6 draws and 5 defeats.
