Manchester City have claimed their third consecutive Premier League title in the 2022/23 campaign. They have taken the crown in a sovereign fashion at the end although they did trail to Arsenal for most of the season. Nevertheless, Pep Guardiola and his machinery found the right rhythm for the final run-in to pick up a magnificent series of wins in 2023 and easily defend their domestic silverware.

5 – 7-0 vs Leeds United (2021/22)
The fifth biggest win in the team’s history came in Matchday 17 of the 2021/22 Premier League campaign when Leeds United visited Etihad Stadium. Phil Foden, Jack Grealish, and Kevin De Bruyne gave City a 3-0 lead at the half time. De Bruyne got his second goal of the game just after the hour-mark while the likes of Riyad Mahrez, John Stones, and Nathan Ake were also on the scoreline after the half-time break.
4 – 7-0 vs RB Leipzig (2022/23)
This is the most recent game in this whole article. RB Leipzig held the Citizens to a 1-1 stalemate in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League last 16 round on German soil. The reverse fixture brought a completely different story as Erling Haaland completed a first-half hat-trick at the Etihad. The Norwegian superstar added two more goals in the second half before Pep Guardiola decided to pull him off. Ilkay Gundogan and Kevin De Bruyne notched the remaining two goals on the occasion.
3 – 8-1 vs Scunthorpe United (1963/64)
We will go back through history for Man City’s 8-1 drubbing of Scunthorpe United in the old English Division Two. The game was played on Boxing Day in 1963 at the Maine Road. Matt Gray and Jimmy Murray completed a hat-trick each, while Derek Kevan added the remaining two goals in a commanding victory for the team then led by George Poyser.

The team's second-greatest win happened on Matchday No 6 of the 2019/20 Premier League campaign. Pep Guardiola’s troops destroyed Watford 8-0 as Bernardo Silva starred with a hat-trick. Sergio Aguero made no mistake from the spot, while Riyad Mahrez chipped in with a beautiful direct free-kick goal. 1 – 9-0 vs Burton Albion (2018/19)
Lower-division Burton Albion enjoyed a dream run in the League Cup as they reached the semifinal stage. The Brewers offered fantastic resistance against heavyweights Manchester City in the first leg, losing just 0-1 at Pirelli Stadium. However, they suffered a genuine disaster in the return tie, conceding nine unanswered goals at the Etihad. It was Gabriel Jesus’ best performance in City’s shirt as the Brazilia forward bagged four goals on the occasion. City’s Heaviest Defeats
Manchester City have also suffered some very tough losses throughout history, including the 9-2 defeat to West Bromwich Albion in Matchday No 9 of the 1957/58 First Division campaign. In the modern era, we can remember two particularly painful moments. Interestingly, they both came in the 2007/08 Premier League campaign. The first came on Matchday No 11 when the Sky Blues visited the capital for the clash against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. The Citizens fell 6-0 to Avram Grant’s troops on the occasion. Mikel Essien and Didier Drogba made the difference in the first half. Drogba made it 3-0 just before the hour-mark when Joe Cole bagged Chelsea’s fourth. Salomon Kalou made it 5-0 15 minutes from time while the final score was set by substitute Andriy Shevchenko in the 90th minute.
Finally, City finished that same season (2007/08) with an 8-1 loss to Middlesbrough at the Riverside. Richard Dunne’s 15th-minute red card set the tone for the game as Afonso Alves starred with a hat-trick for Boro.
