According to reports, Real Madrid is eyeing a "bold" approach for Manchester City attacker Erling Haaland this summer to search for a "new generation" of players.
According to the Independent, Florentino Perez is willing to put City's determination to the test concerning Haaland since Madrid is already seeking Karim Benzema's eventual successor. A source says that the Norwegian star is content at the Etihad but that the Spanish club is interested in signing Haaland and Jude Bellingham at the end of the season.
Haaland and Kylian Mbappe were players that Perez was considering signing with Madrid. Yet, it is unlikely that the Frenchman will leave PSG for Los Blancos, considering he did not join them after rejecting the reigning European champions last summer.
According to the source, 22-year-old Haaland is different from the type of player who will remain at one club for many seasons, but he has excelled in the Premier League since coming from Borussia Dortmund. That's an incredible 27 goals in 25 league games and 33 in 34 games in all competitions for the striker.
A move for Haaland was previously thought to be off the table until the summer of 2024, but reports indicate that Madrid is at least willing to test the waters this summer.
Also, journalist Simon Phillips claims that despite rumors to the contrary, Chelsea has no plans to sell English defender Ben Chilwell to City this summer.
The future of Joao Cancelo has created speculation that Pep Guardiola would like to add a new left-back to his squad. There have been rumors that the Blues had had their eye on the defender since at least 2020, when he was 26. The shift to Stamford Bridge, however, was made.
Chilwell has missed ten games due to injury, limiting his season total to just 20 appearances for Graham Potter's squad.
According to Phillips, Chilwell is now using him as their starting left back. Graham Potter has a soft spot for him, as he is responsible for keeping [Marc] Cucurella off the team. With his recent return from injury, I have little doubt he will flourish once again in that position and even improve upon his previous performance. Although circumstances may change, Chelsea has no plans to sell Ben Chilwell.
