Norwegian striker to join the Blues in July after club activated his release clause
City have reached an agreement to sign Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund, the club revealed on Tuesday afternoon.
The 21-year-old striker will join the Blues in July after City activated his release clause, thought to be in the region of £51m. He underwent a medical in Belgium on Monday.
Haaland was one of the most highly sought after players in Europe, and his signing represents a real coup for City. The Norwegian striker scored an incredible 85 goals in 88 appearances for Dortmund, after joining the club in 2020 from Red Bull Salzburg. His father Alf-Inge also played for City, between 2000-2003 and Erling was a boyhood fan of the club.
A statement on the club's website read:
"Manchester City can confirm we have reached an agreement in principle with Borussia Dortmund for the transfer of striker Erling Haaland to the Club on 1st July 2022.
The transfer remains subject to the Club finalising terms with the player."
