City with a number of chances from their previous high scoring wins, raced into a two goal lead inside the opening ten minutes, under the flood lights of Liverpool’s academy complex.
The opening goal came from Thierry Ambrose when City worked the ball well down the left through Barker and he pulled it back and it ran all the way for Ambrose to convert. The second, two minutes later, saw City on the break and Sinan Bytyqi cut inside and fire across the keeper low and hard with his left foot.
The Blues were certainly looking comfortable and they continued to get into good areas and threaten up the pitch and went into the half time break pleased with their performance and perhaps looking for the same application in the second period.
The home side however had different ideas and pulled two back through, their number 8, which caused some confusion in ‘Twitter’ land, although the team sheet said Jordan Lussey, other sources were reporting it was Adam Phillips, we were informed by some alleged knowledgeable Liverpool fans, it was definitely Lussey that had scored both goals, needless to say they were wrong and it was Phillips
City restored their lead on the hour mark when Bossaerts converted at the back post with a fine header from Ashley Smith Browns cross, Ashley was then in action at the other end when he headed a certain goal off the line
Three soon became four when Brandon Barker cut in from the left and touched the ball through to Jordy Hiwula and with his back to goal held of the defender, turned him and curled his shot into the top corner.
The scoring continued and Liverpool pulled another goal back through substitute Harry Wilson and then City had Lawlor to thank for keeping out a fine effort from Ojo.
