City overcame a potentially difficult fixture in Round 16 of the UEFA Champions League Youth competition against Group winners Atletico Madrid, courtesy of striker Devante Cole’s sixth goal in this inaugural event. The game incidentally being played at The Ciudad Deportiva Cerro Del Espino in Majadahonda.
City dominated possession in the opening forty five and went in at the break leading by Devante Coles strike on 25 minutes, following an assist by Thierry Ambrose. City however had keeper Billy O’Brien to thank for that as he thwarted an almost immediate reply for the home side, with an excellent save to push the ball onto the bar.
City will now play Benfica (who defeated Austria Vienna 4-1 earlier in the day), in the last eight of the competition, with the added bonus of home advantage
