Elsewhere, loathsome Arsenal striker Robin van Persie has made "come and get me" eyes to City by refusing to commit to Arsenal. "When I came to Arsenal we immediately beat City, but in recent years much has happened in England", he sobbed.

Finally the Spain coach, Vicente Del Bosque, has refused to respond to reported accusations from David Silva that he has frozen the midfielder out of his plans.
