Belgian international has enjoyed a productive season, but is a doubt for Sunday's Manchester derby

Belgian international Kevin De Bruyne is the best midfielder in the Premier League, according to ex-City player Michael Brown.

The 28 year old playmaker has enjoyed a productive season so far, netting nine times in 35 appearances. The League Cup victory against Aston Villa on Sunday was the eighth major honour with the club.

However, an injury sustained towards the end of that game means that De Bruyne is an injury doubt for this weekend's Manchester derby. It would be a significant blow for Pep Guardiola as he looks to consolidate second place in the table.

Brown, speaking exclusively to 888 sport, was recently asked who he believes is the best midfielder in the Premier League and responded:

“It’s Kevin De Bruyne. I just love watching him play. The dynamics that he has with his short and long passing and then there are his goals and he creates. He’s got the lot.”
