Forest midfielder linked with a summer move to the Etihad
Following a huge summer at the Etihad Stadium and quite a significant rebuild of Manchester City's first team squad and the options available to serial winning manager Pep Guardiola, the 2025/26 Premier League campaign may not have been perfect (European competition included) but it has been very pleasing on a number of levels.
Making such major changes to a squad, particularly an aging one, is always a risk because you never know how quickly the newbies will settle in, or even if they can adjust to a new league full stop, but it seems quite apparent to all in the wider world of football that our new signings have rebuilt the foundations that we needed for further success in the future.
Like everyone who enjoys online casino gaming and uses Luckyhills bonus codes knows, you have to make the right decisions, and with good moves made last summer then a couple of key additions in the January transfer window, City fans will be expecting another pretty busy summer come the end of the campaign as there are still definitely players we need to move on, and we will undoubtedly have our eye on another key player or two.
As the current season draws to a close, and the business end of the year could still see us walk away with a double Cup success, as well as potentially another top flight title, fans will have seen that Nottingham Forest (and new England star) Elliot Anderson has become a hot topic on the speculation rumour mill and we seem to be the favoured club and in pole position for his signature.
A number of clubs are reportedly tracking his signature this summer after another year of improved performances on the pitch, and it is pretty clear as to why Newcastle United were less than pleased that they had to originally sell him for Profit and Sustainability reasons - but that could ultimately be to our benefit.
As another largely pointless international break comes to an end, it is now being reported that positive talks have already been held between the relevant parties and that there is confidence that we could not be close to an 'agreement in principle' with the players representatives, and if that is true, then the subsequent negotiation stages should be far easier to work though.
The 23 year old midfielder obviously has a number of plus points to his capture from our point of view, he has good experience for his age and now has European and international football under his belt. Despite Forest's struggles this year (and their four manager merry go round), Anderson has continued to be a very reliable performer for them and one of their bright spots and there cannot be many who do not feel that he would be a very worthy addition to our options.
The speculated £80 million fee is on the high side really, but if there is truth to claims that former club Newcastle, Manchester United, Liverpool and potentially Arsenal are sniffing around then that will hike the price up further anyway. If they cannot avoid the drop to the Championship, they may be more willing sellers though and City would tempt them into accepting a lower fee.
The World Cup may prove to be a complication in any possible deal timing here, but there is nothing to say that we cannot get it all lined up ahead of time, so this is very much one to watch in the coming couple of months.
