Which Blues will suit up for their home nation in the 2022 FIFA World Cup?

The 2022-23 Premier League season is set to be like no other. Hopefully, City can maintain their amazing form and reign at the top of the league once again. However, come November, there will be a huge break in play that could potentially disrupt things.

This is not just any meagre disruption though, as November heralds the start of the 2022 FIFA World Cup! This year, the World Cup is being hosted in Qatar. Due to the extreme summer temperatures, it has been moved to the winter, so the EPL will take a break in November until Boxing Day.

To get in the mood for international football, we take a look below at Manchester City players who should make an appearance for their national team at the upcoming tournament.

Kyle Walker - England

Walker remains an incredible right-back and has enjoyed a resurgence with City after troubled play at Tottenham. He played an important part in the Blue’s 2021-22 EPL campaign, and we expect his form to continue in the new season.

Walker has also been something of a permanent fixture for the England national team since playing for the Under-19 team way back in 2009. For the senior team, he has played in the 2018 World Cup, 2019 UEFA Nations League and Euro 2020.

Jack Grealish - England

Love him or hate him, Grealish is a prodigious talent and an incredible footballer. If you are looking to place free bets or make some wagers on likely England scorers in the 2022 World Cup, he would be a great pick.  His career at Manchester City has been relatively short after signing with the club in 2021 for potentially the most expensive fee for an English player ever.

His England international career has been rocky, and he hasn’t always been favoured by the coaches. Indeed, he only made his senior England debut in 2020, and played sparsely in the 2020 Euro Championship. We hope that he is given more playing time in Qatar as he certainly has the skill and impact to change games.

Julian Alvarez - Argentina

Alvarez is one of our latest signings after transferring from Argentinian team River Plate in January 2022. We have yet to see him play, but he promises to be a great talent and is a promising young Argentinian.

For Argentina, Alvarez has had success in the under-20 team when he played for them in the 2019 South American U-20 Championship. He then went on to make his debut for the senior team in 2021 and played in several 2022 World Cup qualifiers.

Ederson - Brazil

Ederson is often considered one of the best goalkeepers in the world, both for Manchester City and Brazil. He has played for City since 2017 and has been an important part of their success. He has also won the Golden Glove trophy for keeping the most clean sheets in the 2019-20 EPL season.

We can expect Ederson to play for Brazil in the 2022 World Cup. He has played for the senior team since 2018.

Kevin de Bruyne - Belgium

Kevin de Bruyne, the complete footballer, is on another level and has been indispensable for Manchester City. We love him and feel that he should have great success in the 2022 World Cup playing in the midfield for Belgium with Eden Hazard. He has played in the 2014 and 2018 World Cups, as well as in Euro 2016 and Euro 2020.

As you can see, Manchester City has an incredible depth of international players. Indeed, we have only mentioned a few of the England players and have missed out on John Stones and Phil Foden. Other notable World Cup hopefuls include Rodri, Bernado Silva and Ruben Dias.

Regardless of who makes an appearance, we cannot wait for the start of the World Cup. By that point, City will have hopefully made an impact in the EPL and go into the break in a strong position.
