Ferran Torres joins Barcelona for £55m

Spanish international signs five-year deal at the Camp Nou

Ferran Torres has joined Barcelona in a deal worth £55m, the club confirmed on Tuesday.

The 21-year-old joined City from Valencia for £21m in August 2020, and went on to make 43 appearances for the club, scoring 16 goals.

Initially signed as a winger, he started the season in a central role before a foot injury sustained on international duty hindered his progress.

He has signed a five-year deal at the Camp Nou, and is likely to wear the number 11 jersey.

Director of Football Txiki Begiristain said: “Ferran should be proud of what he has achieved here at Manchester City.

“Last season was his first time in a new country, but he adapted well. He always gave 100%, worked hard for the team and scored goals which helped us win trophies.

“Injury unfortunately prevented him from playing more games this season, but Ferran is a player we have all enjoyed working with and we wish him all the best at Barcelona and for the rest of his career.”
