Player ratings: Manchester United (a) 26/10/2016Youngsters shine on otherwise disappointing night for Guardiola

Willy Caballero: 6
Made a smart save from Paul Pogba at the start of the second half, and could do little about the goal. Had relatively little to do in truth.

Pablo Maffeo: 8
The Spanish youngster coped admirably against Marcus Rashford and later Pogba. City's best player on the night, and surely pushing for a start at West Brom.

Vincent Kompany: 6
His distribution left a little to be desired, but he coped fairly comfortably with Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Substituted at half-time.

Nicolas Otamendi: 5
Continues to go to ground needlessly, and gave the ball away on a number of occasions. Seemed to struggle more after Kompany went off.

Gael Clichy: 6
Did little wrong from a defensive point of view, but failed to offer any real attacking threat down City's left hand side.

Fernando: 6
Solid enough performance from the understated Brazilian. Won the most tackles and interceptions of all the players on the pitch.

Aleix Garcia: 7
Neat and tidy performance from the youngster, who didn't look out of place amongst more illustrious names. Lacking the final killer ball, but that will surely come with experience.

Jesus Navas: 7
Gave Luke Shaw a torrid time in the first half, repeatedly taking him on and getting crosses in. Offered far less threat in the second period as United took control of the game.

Nolito: 6
Showed some nice touches, but struggled to influence the game.

Leroy Sane: 5
Looked out of his depth at times. Repeatedly gave away possession and struggled to beat his man. Substituted after an hour.

Kelechi Iheanacho: 5
Ineffective performance from the Nigerian youngster. Could have scored in the opeing minutes but misdirected his diving header. Unfortunate to be booked for slipping.

Substitutes:

Aleksandar Kolarov 5
Replaced Kompany at half-time, and City immediately looked more vulnerable defensively. His passing was poor, and his shooting wayward once again.

Raheem Sterling 5
Came on for Sane after an hour, and was as ineffective as the man he replaced. Offered little attacking threat.

Sergio Aguero 6
Made little impact in the 20 minutes or so he was on the pitch. Dropped deeper in search of the ball, and rarely troubled United's defence.
