Erling Haaland is a doubt for the visit of Brentford, following the death of close family friend Ivar Eggja this week. Manager Pep Guardiol said he will wait to see if the Norwegian striker is "mentally and physically ready" to play.

“It was a tough moment for him and his family,” he said at Friday's press conference.

“It was sad news. He was close to him and his family. 59 years old.

“Our thoughts are with him and his family.

“We will see tomorrow if he is mentally and physically able to play.”

Nathan Ake also misses out, after sustaining a serious muscular injury whilst on international duty with the Netherlands. He expected to be out for at least a month.

Rodri and Phil Foden, however, are available for selection for the first time this season, in a timely boost for the Blues.

City won their last home game against Brentford 1-0, thanks to an Erling Haaland goal. Overall City have won 11 of the 19 games played against the Bees, with 1 draw and 7 defeats.
