Fabian Delph and Gael Clichy return to the City squad after featuring on the bench during the midweek win in Sevilla, but David Silva misses out once again with an ankle problem. Sergio Aguero, Pablo Zabaleta and Samir Nasri are also unavailable for selection.
City will be confident after a run of seven victories and a draw in their last eight games in all competitions, but manager Manuel Pellegrini warned his squad against complacency.
“There are no easy games in the Premier League, especially against Aston Villa,” he said.
“Always when you have a new manager, you have some reaction.
“They’re at the bottom, they have a new manager, so they have the motivation not to be relegated.”
City's last visit to Villa Park ended in 2-0 victory for the Blues, with goals for Yaya Toure and Sergio Aguero. Overall City have won 70 of the 167 games played against Villa, with 40 draws and 57 defeats.
Prediction: Villa 0 City 2
