Spanish playmaker starts season in impressive style
David Silva has been voted as the Bluemoon Player of the Month for August. The mercurial Spaniard won 56% of the vote after an impressive month, which saw City record four straight successive victories against West Brom, Chelsea, Everton and Watford. Silva scored City's opening goal of the season, with a somewhat fortuitous deflection at The Hawthorns.
Fernandinho came second, with 22% of the votes cast. The Brazilian midfielder has started the season well following a disappointing summer with Brazil, and has already netted twice despite being deployed as a holding midfielder essentially. A sublime strike against champions Chelsea was followed by an equally impresive finish against Watford last weekend.
Aleksandar Kolarov was third, with 7% of the vote. The Serbian full-back looked as though he may have been on his way out of The Etihad over the summer, but Kolarov appears rejuvenated and has formed a promising partnership with Raheem Sterling on City's left flank. The pair linked up for Kolarov's first goal of the season, in the 2-0 victory against Everton.
