Montenegrin makes way for Wilfried Bony
Stevan Jovetic has been omitted from Manchester City's Champions League squad, UEFA confirmed today. City had their squad reduced from 25 players to 21 this season, after the governing body decreed that the Blues had broken their "fair" play rules, and the signing of Wilfried Bony in January meant another senior player would inevitably lose their place.
Bacary Sagna, Willy Caballero, Aleksandar Kolarov and Edin Dzeko were other names that were mooted in recent days, but manager Manuel Pellegrini has opted to leave Jovetic out.
The Montenegrin has had a mixed start to his City career since joining from Fiorentina in 2013. The forward has scored 11 goals in 41 appearances, but suffered a series of injuries that have prevented him from getting a prolonged run in the side.
His omission from the Champions League squad leaves serious questions marks over his future, with Juvetus thought to be preparing a summer bid.
