Gael Clichy wins January Player of the Month Award

French defender ahead of Milner and Silva with 39% of the vote

Gael Clichy has been voted as the Bluemoon Player of the Month for January, polling 39% of the vote. James Milner came second (20%), followed by David Silva (13%).

It was a disappointing month for the Blues with home defeats against Arsenal and Middlesbrough seeing City lose ground on league leaders Chelsea and crash out of the F.A. Cup.

Clichy's form, which has seen him firmly established as first-choice left-back, was one of the few highlights from a difficult spell for City. However, the 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge, where the Blues outplayed Chelsea, and the imminent return of Samir Nasri, Yaya Toure and Wilfried Bony gives grounds for optimism for the remainder of the season.
