Denis Suárez joins Barcelona

Denis Suárez has returned to his native Spain after agreeing terms with Barcelona. The 19 year old playmaker is expected to join up with Eusebio Sacristan's Barcelona B selection for their 2013/14 Segunda Division campaign, reuniting with ex-City colleague Joan Román.

Suárez made just two first team appearances at City, but has seemingly left on good terms. The player tweeted yesterday "Was a pleasure to be of @MCFC just can to say BIG THANKS for everything [sic]. Once a blue always blue".

According to Spanish newspaper Marca, the fee is though to be £850,000 up front, with £685,000 being paid next year. City will also receive £685,000 for each first team appearance made by Suárez (up to 10 appearances), making the deal potentially worth up to £8.4m for the Blues. City have also insisted on a 20% sell-on clause, plus first option to buy should Suárez leave Barca.

His contract has a £10.2m release clause that becomes £30m when he joins the first team.
