City will once again be without Sergio Aguero, Nathan Ake and Kevin De Bruyne for the trip to Turf Moor. Aguero is nearing a return after recovering from Covid-19, but Pep Guardiola said the striker will "need a few weeks" ro regain full fitness.

Guardiola has an impressive record against Burnley since arriving in England, having won 10 of the 11 encounters, but has warned his side against complacency on Wednesday evening.

“Always I think when playing Burnley, especially away, is that it will never be easy,” he added.

“They have played together for Sean Dyche for a long time and they know what to do really well.

“The past is nothing. Every team is a new chance, a new challenge, to do a good game.

“I pay zero attention to what happened in the past. It is about tomorrow, what we have to do to beat them. That is only my concern.”

City won their last league game at Turf Moor 4-1, with goals from Gabriel Jesus (2), Rodrigo and Riyad Mahrez. Overall City have won 51 of the 106 games played against the Clarets, with 25 draws and 30 defeats.
