City will be without Ilkay Gundogan, Sergio Aguero, Gabriel Jesus, John Stones and Oleksandr Zinchenko for the trip to Elland Road. New signing Ruben Dias is available, however, and could make his City debut.

Pep Guardiola is a known admirer of his opposite number Marcelo Bielsa, and is expecting a tough game on Saturday.

“Against Leeds, they are completely different to any other team in the Premier League,” said Guardiola.

“We have to play our game. There are many, many aspects in a game. We have to control it.

“They are a team, fight for each other, defend a lot around the box. They have a good build up. At the right moment, they arrive with a lot of players.

“I played three times against Marcelo at [Athletic] Bilbao, and every game was so difficult.”

City lost their last game at Elland Road back in 2004, with Nicolas Anelka netting fro the Blues in a 2-1 defeat. Overall City have won 45 of the 104 games played against Leeds, with 17 draws and 42 defeats.
