City are without Fernandinho (suspended) and Sergio Aguero (knee injury) for the visit of Liverpool, whilst Leroy Sane is in Germany ahead of his move to Bayern Munich. John Stones and Eric Garcia could return after missing the trip to St James Park on Sunday.
Guardiola was full of praise for Jurgen Klopp's side who have won Liverpool's first title for thirty years, but backed his players to improve next season.
“The winner does not want to be beaten and we are going to try to fight with Liverpool and the other opponents for the next chapters in the Premier League.
“Football and sport help you to understand that another side was better, you have to try to reduce the gap.
“For the next seven or eight games and next season we must work harder and better.”
City won the last game against Liverpool at The Etihad 2-1, courtesy of goals from Sergio Aguero and Leroy Sane. Overall City have won 48 of the 184 games played against Liverpool, with 46 draws and 90 defeats.
