With the new American Football season underway, bookmakers Betway have produced a guide on which NFL team to support based on your Premier League club.

Apparently the Los Angeles Rams were deemed to have the most similar characteristics to City, largely due to the spending prowess of the two clubs.

The Rams spent more than $300m to transform their fortunes, and were rewarded with a place in Superbowl 2019, where they were defeated 13-3 by the New England Patriots. It was the Rams first appearance in a Superbowl since 1980.

City endured a similar paucity of success, failing to win a trophy for 35 years prior to Sheikh Mansour's takeover of the club. The Blues now, however, are the dominant force in English football and their appetite for success shows no signs of diminishing.

Another similarity between the two clubs is their young, ambitious coaches. Upon his hiring 2017 at the age of 30, McVay became the youngest head coach in modern NFL history and has single-handedly transformed the Rams offensive play.

Pep Guardiola was also a rookie when he took over as Barcelona manager in 2009, and has become the most influential coach of his generation. His spectacular success at the Nou Camp, which saw him win 14 trophies in four years, was repeated in Germany with Bayern Munich. Since arriving in Manchester, Guardiola has added a further seven trophies to his CV.

Like City, the Rams have enjoyed a successful start to their campaign, recording a 30-27 victory away at the Carolina Panthers. The Blues, meanwhile, are undefeated after four games of the Premier League season and currently sit second in the table.
