Blues given favourable group in Thursday's draw
City will face Shakhtar Donetsk, Lyon and Hoffenheim in the group stages of the 2018/19 UEFA Champions League, following the draw in Monaco on Thursday evening.
The Blues were drawn in Group F along with Ukrainian champions Shakhtar, who they also faced in last year's competition. Lyon and Hoffenheim represent new adversaries for Guardiola's side, but the Blues boss will privately be pleased with what appears to be a favourable draw.
City begin their campaign with a home tie against Lyon at The Etihad on September 19th, before travelling to Germany a fortnight later to face Hoffenheim. A double header against Shakhtar is then followed by a trip to the Groupama Stadium before the final game against Julian Nagelsmann's side at The Etihad.
