England international takes his season tally to 22 with strikes against Spurs and Swansea
Raheem Sterling has been named as the Bluemoon Player of the Month for April 2018, winning 73% of the vote in the forum's online poll.
It was a mixed month for Pep Guardiola's side, with successive defeats against Liverpool in both legs of the Champions League quarter final, and the home derby against United. However, the Blues rallied to win their remaining three league fixtures against Spurs, Swansea and West Ham, clinching the Premier League title in the process.
Sterling had come in for some criticism, after a number of missed opportunities cost City dearly in the Manchester derby, but Pep Guardiola was effusive in his praise of the young forward:
“Sometimes we judge him about ‘he missed that goal’, ‘he missed again that shot’, but the amount of actions he creates, the assists today, he creates fouls, penalties, because he's so fast and quick, sometimes he is unstoppable in those situations,” Guardiola said.
“And the most magnificent thing is he is 23 years old, so he is still focused, keeping the desire to get better, as a player. His understanding of the game is global: he's a guy who can create inside, make a movement outside, dribbling, runs in behind. Still he misses simple balls still, and he has to be more aggressive in this kind of things.”
