Pep Guardiola has been named as the Premier League Manager of the Month for October, after seeing his Manchester City side record three straight victories to extend their lead at the top of the league to eight points. It was the second successive month in which Guardiola won the accolade, and caps an impressive start to the Spaniard's second season in England.

The Blues scored an impressive thirteen goals, and also recorded victories against Napoli and Wolverhampton Wanderers to progress to the next stages of the Champions League and Carabou Cup respectively.

A 7-2 thrashing of Stoke City was followed by a comfortable 3-0 victory against Burnley and a 3-2 win at The Hawthorns against Tony Pulis' West Bromich Albion side.

Guardiola beat off competition from Mauricio Pochettino, Arsene Wenger and Sean Dyche to win the award, and is the bookmakers' favourite to win the LMA Manager of the Year award at the end of the season, according to the portal online-betting.org.

Leroy Sane, meanwhile was named as the Player of the Month after recording a goal and an assist in each of City's three victories and the German international is evidently enjoying life in Manchester:

"I like the way we play football. It’s more fun if you have the ball more than the other team", said Sane.

"I like the way we play and we really enjoy it. Everyone can see that we enjoy it.

"We improved a lot in this game – it’s how Pep wants us to play football."
