Belgian midfielder wins award for second successive month
Kevin De Bruyne has been voted as the Bluemoon Player of the Month for October 2017. It is the second successive month in which the Belgian playmaker has won the award, and comes on the back of a scintillating run of form from De Bruyne.
The Blues won all four fixtures in October, albeit after requiring penalties to see off a spirited Wolverhampton side in the Carabou Cup. The month began with an emphatic 7-2 victory against Stoke City, with De Bruyne claiming a remarkable four assists. Napoli were the next side to come away from The Etihad empty handed, with the Belgian claiming yet another assist, this time crossing for Gabriel Jesus to score City's second goal of the game.
A 3-0 win against Burnley followed, before the penalty shoot-out victory against Wolves in which De Bruyne netted the Blues' first spot kick. Some goalkeeping heroics from Claudio Bravo saw Guardiola's side progress to the quarter finals with a 4-1 victory. The final game of the month saw City travel to The Hawthorns to play Wolves' Black Country rivals West Bromwich Albion. A 3-2 victory, courtesy of goals from Leroy Sane, Fernandinho and Raheem Sterling, was more comfortable than the scoreline suggests and wrapped a hugely satisfying month for Guardiola.
De Bruyne polled 54.7% of the vote, with Leroy Sane (18.7%) second and John Stones (13.7%) in third place.
