Simba x Bluemoon: Simba mattress review
By Bluemoon Staff, Thu 12 September 2024 10:00
This article is something of a departure from what you normally see on these pages, but when Simba asked us to review their Original Hybrid Matress we were more than happy to oblige. Having suffered with back and hip pain in recent years, the opportunity to improve the quality of my sleep was not to be missed!
Delivery & packaging
The delivery time was excellent, with the mattress being received less than 48 hours after the order was placed. It arrived in tasteful, sky blue (appropriately!) cardboard packaging and I was pleasantly surprised by how small the parcel was, considering that it contained a super king sized mattress. The product was relatively easy to unbox, although an extra pair of hands wouldn't have gone amiss given the sheer size of the mattress. It expands immediately, but needs 6 hours to reflate, and regains its full shape after 72 hours. It does emit a slight chemical odour initially, but that's only to be expected and the smell soon disappeared.
Technology
The Simba Hybrid Original Mattress combines five layers of different materials to deliver a well-rounded sleep experience:
- Cooling sleep surface: A hypoallergenic, breathable cover that wicks away moisture.
- Simbatex comfort layer: A synthetic latex foam layer providing comfort and breathability.
- Aerocoil spring layer: A layer of up to 2,500 pocket springs (made from titanium), designed to provide dynamic support and adapt to your body’s movements.
- High-definition foam layer: A layer of supportive foam that helps distribute body weight evenly.
- Zoned base: A supportive base layer with edge support to prevent sagging and enhance durability.
Price
The Original Hybrid Mattress is not a cheap product, with the super king costing £999, but you are very much paying for quality. The materials and thoughtful construction make it worth the investment. It strikes a good balance between luxury and affordability, offering excellent comfort, support, and durability. If, however, it is out of your budget you could always consider Simba's super king mattress topper, as a more affordable option.
Conclusion
The Simba Hybrid Original Mattress is a solid choice for those seeking the best of both foam and spring technology. Its multi-layer construction, focus on comfort, temperature regulation, and durability make it an appealing option for a broad range of sleepers. While it comes at a higher price point, the value it delivers makes it worth considering, especially if you’re looking for a long-lasting hybrid mattress that excels in comfort, cooling, and support.
Pros:
- Excellent balance of comfort and support.
- Great temperature regulation with cooling materials.

- Durable construction with a 10-year guarantee.
- Strong edge support.
