Kevin De Bruyne and Phil Foden named as Player of the Season and Young Player of the Season respectively
Kevin De Bruyne and Phil Foden have been named as the Premier League Player of the Season and Young Player of the Season respectively.
The awards were announced on Saturday, 24 hours before the Blues clinched their fourth league title in five seasons.
De Bruyne scored 15 goals in an outstanding season, and saw off competition from Joao Cancelo, Jarrod Bowen, Bukayo Saka, James Ward-Prowse, Son Heung-min and Trent Alexander-Arnold. He becomes only the fourth player to win the award twice.
“To win this award for a second time is an achievement that I am really proud of,” he said.
“There is so much quality in the Premier League and it is a pleasure to be nominated with so many other great players who have had incredible seasons for their clubs.
“I think my performances this season have been good and I am happy that I have been able to contribute with goals and assists throughout the season.
“Thank you to all of the staff, coaches and especially my teammates because without them this wouldn’t be possible.”
Foden, meanwhile, retains the award that he won last season, after an impressive campaign saw him score nine goals and register five assists.
“I am very proud to have won this award for a second season in a row,” Foden said.
“There are so many talented young players in the Premier League this season and it is a real honour to win it again.
“I have been really happy with my performances this season and it has been great to contribute to this team in what will hopefully be another successful year for us all.
“To be nominated alongside so many great players is an honour as they have all had great seasons for their clubs.
“I would like to thank everyone who has contributed to my development this season.”
