City are without Ilkay Gundogan and Oleksandr Zinchenko again for the visit to Anfield, but otherwise Pep Guardiola has a fully fit squad to select from.

“Everyone is fit except Zinchenko and Gundogan,” said Guardiola at Friday's press conference. “We expect both back after the international break, hopefully.”

The Blues were perhaps unfortunate to lose in Paris midweek after an impressive victory at Chelsea, but Pep was delighted by the two performances ahead of another difficult away game on Sunday.

“Our level was so great, huge in these two games,” he said.

“Despite the result in France, the performance was excellent. Same at Stamford Bridge and hopefully we can continue for nine more months ahead of us.

“Since I arrived here – the first year maybe not, but after we won 100 points - Liverpool always were there.

“Last season they had big problems with injuries in the same position.

“We were excellent again last season. Both teams are there all the time. Both clubs and organisations can say all the time we were there. This is the important thing. But we know there are many teams who can fight for Premier League.”

City won their last away game at Anfield 4-1, with Ilkay Gundogan (2), Raheem Sterling and Phil Foden scoring for the Blues. Overall City have won 50 of the 187 games played against Liverpool with 47 draws and 90 defeats.

Predicted line-up: Ederson, Walker, Dias, Laporte, Cancelo, Rodri, De Bruyne, Bernardo, Grealish, Foden, Jesus

Score prediction: Liverpool 2 City 1
