City will face Barnsley at the CFA on Saturday evening, in a hastily arranged pre-season friendly. The game will kick off at 6pm and will be played behind closed doors, but will be screened live on City+, the club have announced.
The Blues had been due to play ES Troyes AC, but travel restrictions to France as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic meant the game had to be cancelled.
It left Pep Guardiola with a fairly sparse pre-season schedule, with only two games arranged ahead of the season opener at White Hart Lane on August 14th.
City face Preston North End at the Academy Stadium tonight, before travelling to London for the Charity Shield against Leicester on August 7th. The game against Barnsley will allow Guardiola additional time to assess the fitness of his players, many of whom are returning late after their involvement in Euro 2020.
