Potential Stadium Share and Potential Transfer Targets for City

The troubles in the red half of Manchester have been music to City fans' ears for the last few seasons, but news that Manchester United are set to build a new 100,000 seat stadium has opened discussions about the potential for groundsharing.

However, City fans will be more interested in how Pep plans to turn the team’s fortunes around after a disappointing season.

A Season to Forget in Manchester

While this season has been a bit of a write off for both clubs, City are still in contention for Champions League football again next season while United are closer to relegation.

Pep will be looking ahead to next season but fans can still explore markets for the FA Cup, with City the current favourite. The UK's top sportsbooks all have betting on the next tie against Bournemouth and to win the cup outright.

While some bettors might want to explore options without restrictions that are provided by operators with betting not on Gamstop.

Online betting expert Margaret Doyle explains that these options give fans far greater freedoms, and can even provide more competitive odds.

Next season's betting will be interesting as City look to challenge for the title again, but United could struggle to finance a new stadium and build a new squad.

The Potential for Manchester City to Welcome Manchester United to Use the Etihad

The idea of rivals sharing a stadium is not unheard of, in fact, the famous San Siro has been home to AC Milan and Internazionale for decades. United are planning to continue to play at Old Trafford until the new stadium is built, but things don't always go to plan and if they are forced to look for somewhere to play home ties, they could come to City with their hat in their hand.

This would not be the first time Manchester City have allowed Manchester United to use their facilities, with the club playing three European ties at Maine Road in 1956 and 1957, including a 10-0 defeat of Belgian side Anderlecht.

The club had also been open to allowing their rivals play at the Etihad as recently as 2018 when there were discussions about renovation work at Old Trafford impacting the playing season.

If United were to require somewhere to play should construction work run over or Old Trafford become unsuitable, then City would be able to command large rental fees, making it a lucrative bit of business.

Potential Transfer Targets for City

Rumours about De Bruyne moving on to another club have been bouncing about for a while, and with City struggling for form this year it could come to fruition in the Summer.

Whatever happens with De Bruyne, it is clear that the team needs some new blood and there are some exciting prospects already being spoken about.

Eduardo Camavinga of Real Madrid, is one player being linked with a move to the Etihad having impressed with Real Madrid. At just 22, he could be an integral part of the team for years to come, alongside players like Haaland and Abdukodir Khusanov.

Guardiola looks keen to add quality young players that already have experience to his squad and Camavinga would fit this mold. Another possibility is Bayer Leverkusen's 21-year-old attacking midfielder Florian Wirtz who already has more than 130 appearances for the Bundesliga side, as well as 29 caps for Germany.

Versatile Juventus full back Andrea Cambiaso could also be brought in to add more strength to a defence that saw Kyle Walker move to Milan on loan.

Despite the disappointment of this season, a rebuild was due and next season should be exciting for the blue half of Manchester.
