Karim Rekik to join MarseilleYoungster set to join Ligue 1 club for £3.9m

Karim Rekik is on the verge of a move to Ligue 1 side Marseille, in a deal believed to be worth £3.9m (€5.5m) The 19 year old has spent the last two seasons on loan at PSV Eindhoven, making 54 appearances in total for the Dutch side, and it was thought that he would return to Manchester for pre-season training.

However, he appears to have fallen behind fellow youngster Jason Denayer in the pecking order, and with Vincent Kompany, Eliaquim Mangala and Martin Demichelis established members of Manuel Pellegrini's squad, his first team opportunities would have been limited.

Rekik made his Premier League debut for the Blues in 2012, in a 1-0 victory against Reading, before unsuccessful loan spells at Portsmouth and Blackburn Rovers. However, he thrived in the Eredivisie whilst playing for PSV and was called up the Dutch national team last year.

It is believed that City have requested a buy-back clause in the deal.
