Yaya Toure has joined Stevan Jovetic and Vincent Kompany on the sidelines after suffering a hamstring injury in the 3-2 home win against Aston Villa. There is better news for manager Manuel Pellegrini, however, as Samir Nasri and Gael Clichy are once again available for selection. Despite back to back wins in the last two games agianst Villa and West Ham, the City boss is expecting a difficult challenge against Spurs.

“It will be a very tough game because Tottenham are a good team with good players and a good manager,” said Pellegrini.

“They play in an offensive way so we must work very hard in defence. They need points to qualify for the Europa League and we must try to be near the top of the table. It is two teams who play well and try to attack.

“We hope that we will play a very good game for the fans.”

City's last away game at White Hart Lane ended in a comprehensive 5-1 victory, with Sergio Aguero, Yaya Toure, Edzin Dzeko, Stevan Jovetic and Vincent Kompany on the scoresheet for the Blues. Overall City have won 57 of the 148 games played against Spurs, with 34 draws and 57 defeats.
