Valencia and Real Madrid linked with Negredo moveSpanish striker could leave after just one season

Rumours that Alvaro Negredo could yet leave The Etihad during this transfer window persists, despite the foot injury that will keep the striker sidelined until October.

Valencia, backed by Peter Lim's vast wealth, are thought to be considering making an offer for the ex-Sevilla front man, whilst Real Madrid have also been linked in recent days.

Negredo enjoyed a bright start to his City career, scoring 23 goals before an injury at West Ham resulted in a loss of form and confidence. It has been rumoured that Negredo is homesick, and seeking a return to La Liga.

City are reluctant to sell, although an offer of around £20m could prove tempting, particularly given the FFP sanctions faced by the club. The Blues can only name 16 foreign players in their Champions League squad, but currently have 17 overseas players on the books.
